Morning Comrades.
I am once again having to skip another art dispatch in favour of a few words and places that I feel like I should be pointing you towards. I am not in favour of the old adage “History repeats itself” only because it is a juvenile, binary interpretation of material realities, regardless of how many parallels over-paid talking heads in the capitalist PR departments do so - which is worse than Vice clickbait.
Nevertheless, and with the clearest interpretation of the current state of the world I can come to no other conclusion that the so-called “West”, with the U.S. government and their bosses are at war with the world, once again. I say once again only because in my lifetime this was once definitely the case, with the 80s being one of the “hottest” parts of the never having been “Cold” War. I vividly remember the panic that went through most of my anti-capitalist, anarchist and communist circles back in the first few weeks post 9/11 where the consensus was that this event was going to unleash a permanent war across the globe. No one at the time could have guessed that this also meant that a new “Cold” War1 would not only start, but also be turned inward. Sadly, most of the voices I listened to back then, were right.
20 some years down the road, with multiple imperialistic crusades by the U.S. and their NATO partners from Afghanistan to Iraq and Libya to name a few, that created and caused a global suffering and insane profits for the racketeers behind this crime against humanity2 , we are how at the point where even the mildest interpretation of events can only be described as the last thrashings of the Imperial Core to hold on to its powers and thus wealth. Make no mistake, this, and any war before this, always boils down to money. Ideology has nothing to do with the real reasons for war, it is merely used to convince scores of young people to kill each other.
One cannot view these last few months, even the last year in any other light. The powers that be, especially in the U.S. aren’t stupid, nor are they driven by ideology, they are driven by profit and out economies here in the West have always depended on two points: The belief in it by everyone else and secondly, the brutal reality that anyone that didn’t, would be wiped off the map by the worlds best paid army that would be willing to do whatever it took, as Assange proved and has thus been in a solitary cell for the last 3 years. I don’t want to cite Gramsci yet again, but we have to critically asses where we are at in order to move forward, to not be blinded by the propaganda and not be fooled by emotions based on falsely created hopes3 and aim to see the world for what it is. Right now, the U.S. government, its allies and more importantly, their masters are at war with the world that after 80s years of their brutal oppression of anything outside their worldview has had enough. I know there is neutrality when expressing anything such as the above, and I will never claim that for myself but even attempting a level of neutrality to counter my bias leaves me with no other conclusion. The Western Capitalists are at war with the world and it is nigh on time we got together and figured out what it is we actually want, how to get it and put an end to their world-destroying greed.4
Much of that has always been the aim for this project, so thanks for being part of the ride. With that, here are some wonderful resources for you to dig into. As a small thank you for being around, here is a free print file for you to download and do with as you wish. If you have any questions about this one, just drop me a line.
As with most resources I share with you here, I am going to present them without comments, mostly. Take your time with them. One note though as we head into weekend, do pay attention to the General Election in Brazil this Sunday, bear a thought for our comrades who have worked tirelessly and at great threat to their safety to bring down the Trump of Latin America.
As always, thank you for your time, attention and support. This whole revolution will only work if we pull together and every little helps. Engage, speak, listen and find ways and means to offer and receive non-transactional mutual aid to move forward.
Yours, in revolutionary spirits,
V.
I despise that verbiage. There was nothing “cold” about the Cold War, it was a brutal global war with millions dead, waged by the West, the U.S., NATO and all their financial institutions against anyone that threatened their capital unipolarity veiled in a faux-moral crusade against the ghost of communism.
To be absolutely clear, my gripe is with the U.S./NATO Capital class, not their working people. We have more in common with one another than we have with them. Always remember that. Hating each other based on culturally engineered differences by the ruling classes is how end up fighting wars on their behalf. No more.
