Morning Comrades and welcome back to the second patreon-only dispatch this week.
As mentioned in Wednesday’s newsletter, I did manage to spend some time with one of my favourite philosophers, Eva von Redecker, this week and what a wonderful, insightful time that was. The focus of our conversation was revolution. What it is, what it means, what needs to be done and what to do, for starters. This is going to be today’s topic- one, I am sure, that we will be revisiting time and time again as our world changes. Seeing that the main theme of my work has always been power ( die Macht, in German - a word I prefer to use, see Footnotes as the difference between the two )1 and revolution I wanted to take a moment to critically assess not the need for revolution but what it is, how it will not happen here and what can realistically happen.
The usual pitch before we get into it, the publishing schedule of this newsletter has changed to one free for all newsletter a week and two for the patreons. I have changed the monthly subscription fee to 5USD a month or 50 a year. You can get a free trial for two weeks above, which would make me very happy. Today’s dispatch also includes a free print for any and all patreons to download. Thank you for everyone that does and can do this, it is what keeps our fridge full and this work running.
To be absolutely clear, a, or rather many, revolution(s) is/are absolutely necessary. My outset has always been that our existence is anything but desirable, that is is man-made and thus absolutely subject to change.
Secondly, a disclaimer, whilst some of this writing will appear to be defeatist, it is the contrary. I strongly believe in the sobriety of reality and distancing ones self from any and all romaticized utopianism when it comes to materially changing the world. This is utterly important if one wishes to succeed.
Lastly, this assessment is about us, here, in the NATO Imperial Core. I have absolutely zero authority, wish nor grounds to speak about any other place. Importantly, any and all assessments about revolutions outside of the NATO west are and have been done by wonderfully smart and brave people there. Their material conditions, their realities, objectives, strategies and tactics do and have to vary from ours - granted, there is an underlying reality that affects and unites all working people of the world, but when it comes down to removing the rifle and boot from ones neck, we have to focus on what is above us.
An additional disclaimer: I often struggle with not only the word revolution but my own role in it. I have been “active” in reactionary, anti-capitalist/fascist structures and activities for nigh on 30 years yet I wouldn’t define them as revolutionary, not anymore. Our romantic idea of revolution here in the West needs a massive overhaul, re-definition and an entirely radical push towards what is needed and doable. This is going to be a start of it, again, not only from my mind but a temporary net collection of many, many peoples input, experiences and thoughts. Lastly, another immeasurable thank you to Eva for listening, conversing, offering her brilliance and willingness to do what needs to be done.
Strap In.
The Revolution is Dead. Long Live The Revolution.
