Morning Comrades.
Earlier in the year I wrote a piece on Contradictions and its role in our experience within Capitalism and considering the events of the past week or so I am going to add an additional piece to that today that specifically focuses on the geopolitical aspect of Capitalism.
Contradictions are fundamental, dialectical oppositions or conflicts that arise within a system due to its internal dynamics. These contradictions are not merely logical inconsistencies but represent material tensions that drive change and development within the system. Rooted in dialectical materialism, contradictions are essential to understanding how societal, economic, and political structures evolve over time. This becomes extremely apparent and often confusing in regards to geopolitical realities, especially when dealing with the West and its relations to the Middle East, but also North Africa and Afghanistan, for example. Whilst we are going to be looking specifically at Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Israel and Libya later on, Afghanistan and obviously Iran have to be mentioned within the context of the post 9/11 world that we are in.
Specifically, the reality that on the surface, many seemingly opposing realities that should contradict each other but don’t necessarily have to, can, simultaneously all be true at the same time. For example, how the Syrian US Embassy 7 years ago put out a hit and a Most Wanted Status on Muhammad Al-Jawlani with a 10 Million Dollar Bounty and now have declared him de-facto leader of Syria as moderate “extremist”. Some call it Real-Politik, in reference to Otto von Bismark’s political style but that merely brushes off the underlying constructs with a juvenile display of pretending to understand High School History.
Contradictions are not merely objects of analysis but serve as a basis for revolutionary praxis (action). By identifying and understanding these contradictions, we aim to intervene in historical processes to resolve antagonistic contradictions, such as overthrowing capitalism and building socialism.
Let’s get into it.
