Morning Comrades! Thanks to everyone that picked up a piece from this past weeks drop, I am running over 500€ to the local homeless shelter later today and that is going to fill a big hole in regards to food, blankets and other much needed items. Thanks for that one comrades. The above image is a little teaser of something I have been playing around with for some time, the original line comes from my friend Benny Gold over in SF and I think I finally nailed how I want to run with it. Stay tuned, here and over in our telegram group.
If you are still stuck for a thoughtful present to pass to your special someone, here is subtle reminder that you can give away subscription to this here newsletter, that not only gets you my undivided appreciation but an extra email per week with more ramblings and discount codes for any and all products I put out.
Obviously, new week, new playlist. I am clearly giving up on not letting my metal slip into these but so be it, it is that time of year and all that. Other than that, hot damn! It’s another 3 hour plus trip but you get on it and let me know what you think.
We do have to have a chat about Spotify though. Aside from the shit money they pay out to the artists we all love, last week saw their CEO, Daniel EK, proudly announce that he was personally investing 100 million USD into a company that makes weaponized AI’ technology.
Fucks sake, I mean, apart from the fact that we seemingly cannot have one “service” that comes out of tech without a fascist megalomanic literally wanting to start the 4th Reich, this bit of news pretty much seals the deal for me. Problem is, I have not used the other music services such as Tidal etc - nor do I know much about the rest of them.
What do you think? Anyone here that gives a shit about this and if so, what are the recommendations to use instead of Spotify?
On a similar note, I am sure some if not most of you have picked up talk about the so called Web3 in line with the Metaverse spiel. I have been trying to lean into that a little and recently came across Stephen Diel, seemingly a very clever person that knows about these topics and doesn’t mince words and that is appreciated.
At its core web3 is a vapid marketing campaign that attempts to reframe the public’s negative associations of crypto assets into a false narrative about disruption of legacy tech company hegemony. It is a distraction in the pursuit of selling more coins and continuing the gravy train of evading securities regulation. We see this manifest in the circularity in which the crypto and web3 movement talks about itself. It’s not about solving real consumer problems. The only problem to be solved by web3 is how to post-hoc rationalize its own existence.
With that I am going to leave with some hot shots that got my attention over the last few days for you to get into your week.
