Morning Comrades! Off the bat I have to say that at the time of writing this I am little pressed for time so please excuse any spelling mistakes. I’ll do my best. Actually, how this whole “pressed for time” thing works for someone ( ahem, me ) with a nice bout of ADHD is this: the most effective way for me to feel in charge of this neurodivergence is to meticulously plan out my day, my obsession with utilizing my allocated time for that day’s task is a wonderful way to keep me going, and when something out of the ordinary requires my attention, hence the use of the word “fuckening”, all hell breaks loose. It’s rather annoying and that is what happened today. I won’t bore you with the entirety of the net results but what is relevant for you is that I haven’t managed to upload this weekend’s drop to the online store. That means I can only tease two new shirts today and fingers crossed will have a preview ready sometime on Wednesday. I will post that when it is ready in our Telegram Group.
Speaking of this weekends drop, yes, two new shirts! I am excited for these only because one of them will be for Sea Watch and is the first time I am running this bastardized version of the Reebok logo on a black shirt, and hell, the other is just something I’ve been meaning to do for a while and never felt entirely comfortable doing so up until now.
I posted this on IG Tuesday and it took all of 30 minutes to be taken down for Hate Speech. Go figure. I am not here to figure out what that is all about but am posting this just in case someone, ahem, wants to re-post this Margaret Atwood quote that Idles used so poignantly in their song “Mother” and, secondly, to further drive home the fact that IG is beyond broken, increasingly irrelevant and that my focus will remain here and on Telegram.
Continuing from Monday’s story of cultural subversion via the CIA, PLB posted this great thread over on twitter the other digging even deeper into the subversive tactics employed by the US Government to divide and conquer, determine the anti-communist narrative and generally be the evil bastards they always claimed everyone else was. Hugely interesting imagery in here so please, do click on the tweet below.
How opium trade funded the British Empire
The British empire and the massive strides made by the United Kingdom in the age of colonization was built on the trade of opium that had a lasting effect on India and China, aside from the massive robbery of humans, natural resources and other destructive side-effects of their empire. Aside from the emerging Cold War Historical Studies, De-Colonization and Colonial History are going to be some of the most exciting fields in History going forward and here we have Senior journalist Nilanjan of the People’s Dispatch talk to Thomas Manuel, author of “Opium Inc.: How A Global Drug Trade Funded The British Empire,” and Prabir Purkayastha, editor-in-chief of NewsClick, about the history of the opium trade. Riveting. Always worth remembering that today’s rich and elite only got to where they are because they murdered and stole for it. That’s it.
I am going to kick off today’s selection of hot shots with another music video, this time from Kneecap that have just dropped what to me is a seriously strong contender for song of the year. If you don’t know, Kneecap are from West Belfast and almost entirely rap in Irish. Still, to this day, considering a minority language thanks to us English, this tune just nails so much, so perfectly.
Yours,
Without Compromise,
Steven.
