Morning Comrades.
All too often I panic when the enormity of the state of the world hits me. Truth be told, I have been working on escaping my usual flight or fight mode since the age of 13 with varying degrees of success but, happily, with a lot of help from my comrades, this is getting better. Part of this journey towards a revolutionary tomorrow is inward, acknowledging these responses and how to deal with them.
Now, to assure, this isn’t a self-help course. Yikes. There are no NFT’s, Protein Shakes or YT course on sale here. Far from it, but rather a little glimpse into my own reality with a suggestion of help. I do freak out, regularly especially when it comes to what to do, in the face of the all daily bullshit and injustice we witness. It has taken me some time but I’d say over the last decade or so I have understood the desperate need for organization, bridge building, coalitions, mutual aid - name it what you will - the most important and hard learned fact is that I, nor anyone else, can do this shit alone - again, refer to shit to whatever you will, life, revolution, it’s all the same anyway. With that, one of the ways I deal with the overwhelming flood of (faux) impotence is going back to a few seminal texts, for me, and I am going to share with you today: Lenin’s “What is to be done?” - because, none of this shit is new, and even Mr. Revolution asked himself that question and came to some genuinely brilliant conclusions. Again, the point of going back to History is manifold and as always, it is important to understand what he said in what context, so as to apply whatever lessons and tips he wrote to your own material reality. Carbon copies are silly ideas for self-proclaimed online dogmatists with something to sell, but lessons learned aren’t.
So here is a little deep dive and companion to Lenin’s “What is to be done?”
