Morning Comrades!
Friday again eh. Is it just me or is anyone else genuinely losing track of time these days? Heaps to go through today so no long worded intro. A little housekeeping, I’ve been enjoying making new graphics lately, turns out it wasn’t a lack of creativity but rather forcing myself to make new stuff on the daily. Thanks to everyone that has been in touch commenting on it, that’s been nice especially after taking a year off making “things”. The above is another take from the seminal Parisian Atelier Populaire that plays into what is to come. The below was just me fucking around on a day where I had no zoom meetings after a few weeks of agency work, which was nice.
Hot Shots Episode 6
The Reactionary Issue. I had too much and not enough to talk shit about. Back in my study, drop in, say hi, crack open a cold one.
Weekly Jams On Tidal
Cancelled Spotify for all the reasons I had already mentioned. For anyone interested, the move was extremely easy, I have moved every Weekly Jams Playlist from the last 2.5 years over there and whilst you cannot follow users on there, yet, you can check out individual profiles to save playlists to your account. My spotify account will be deleted by the end of February so if you are one the people who enjoy these, switch to Tidal. Easy.
Substack Friends
As time goes by on this platform I am growing more and more fond of this place, but I am a writer, most of the time, and I enjoy the written word. For those that came here from the IG etc to keep up with my bullshit, I wanted to highlight a few people whose substack’s I enjoy a lot. There is heaps more and a lot of weird shit to dig through but like on any platform there’s gems. These are some of them. Disclaimer, I don’t necessarily align with all of them, but, open minds and such. There’s more but these will do for this week.
A Map of Latin America’s Present
In one of the most in-depth pieces on the current reality of life, politics, economics and everything that life throws at you, this extremely worthwhile piece by Héctor Béjar is your must-read for the week. I’ll never tire to state that the struggle against capitalism takes place in the Global South and that our job is, partly, to listen, learn and offer help. This is your intro. Take your time, this will take about 30-60minutes to read but it is oh so worth it. The piece is linked in the above picture.
Books Against Borders
Need a more than excellent reading list on decolonization? Here you go. No words needed, this is all more than excellent work and do yourself a favour and follow Books Against Borders either on IG or Twitter.
Graphic Novels For Kids ( And Adults )
Who doesn’t love a good graphic novel. If you are a parent like myself I know that you know how useful they can be getting the spawn into reading and subjects that need talking about. This reading list is something I wish I had 10 years ago and am still nerding out on massively. Essentially a huge compilation for all ages on Social Justice.
Not going to leave you to your weekend without a few suggestions outside of the usual propaganda being streamed, all presented without comment, I watched these, liked them, figured you would too.
That’s it for this week comrades. Thanks for tuning in, reading, sharing, commenting and sticking around. See you all back here on Monday. Until then, I remain, yours, without compromise,
V.
