Afternoon Comrades.
Welcome back especially to those of you that didn’t unsubscribe after a week off, immediacy still appears to be a demand even on these off-social media sites apparently. In any case, here we are and despite the holiday, I obviously didn’t entirely log-off, if such as thing is even possible in 2024 but kept abreast of what has happening around the world and at home.
Home, or rather my country of residence, and yes, the concept of home is very fluid, is going to be a topic of discussion on here this week and as much as I try to keep the local realities out of these dispatches the increasing shit show of the extended 4th Reich does require a few words. Yet, with an ever increasing possibility on the horizon that the ruling classes in the US and the majority of Western Europe are willing to kick start armageddon in their inhumane greed as well as the ever increasing wars around the world I wanted to share a few thoughts with you, for sobriety’s sake.
6 months into the ruling classes genocide in Gaza we have to face the facts that these events for one never happen in a vacuum nor are they an aberration of what we, here in the west have been lulled into believing “normality” is / was. No matter how badly our respective ruling classes act in their hypocrisy of their so called “rules based order” and no matter how shocking our understanding thereof is, this ever increasing possibility of war, an all encompassing war is the very nature, is the very core of their imposed economic system and enragingly so, the logical conclusion of capitalism. Just as their rigged reality will always lead towards monopolisation of any and all markets, so does it logically lead to war, to murder and theft, in a “market” with finite resources. It is this understanding, this sobriety of understanding that then has to define our response to it all. As Marx said:
The mode of production of material life conditions the social, political and intellectual life process in general. It is not the consciousness of men that determines their being, but, on the contrary, their social being that determines their consciousness.
Karl Marx, Preface of A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy (1859)
The anti-humanistic behaviour exhibited by the West has, indeed, to be understood within or rather as the framework of capitalism. Capitalism prioritizes profit and the accumulation of wealth above all else. As we all know this leads to a disregard for human welfare and dignity in the pursuit of economic gain.
Capitalism inherently promotes competition and self-interest. In the pursuit of profit, individuals and corporations may engage in activities that harm others, whether it's exploiting workers through low wages and poor working conditions or disregarding environmental concerns for the sake of cost-cutting measures. Western leaders, often influenced by corporate interests, prioritize policies that benefit the wealthy elite and powerful corporations at the expense of the general population.
Secondly, capitalism prioritizes short-term gains over long-term sustainability. Western leaders, driven by the need to show immediate economic growth and prosperity, purposely overlook the long-term consequences of their actions on society and the environment. This manifests in policies that prioritize deregulation, tax cuts for the wealthy, and austerity measures that disproportionately affect marginalized communities.
Furthermore, capitalism fosters inequality by concentrating wealth and power in the hands of a few. This concentration of wealth enables the elite to influence political decision-making, leading to policies that further entrench their privilege while marginalizing the most vulnerable members of society. Western leaders, beholden to wealthy donors and corporate interests, enact policies that perpetuate inequality rather than address its root causes.
Additionally, capitalism commodifies human beings, reducing them to mere units of labour or consumers. This dehumanization results in policies that prioritize economic efficiency over human well-being, such as cuts to social welfare programs, privatization of essential services, and the perpetuation of systems of oppression and exploitation.
Lastly, and this is what I am taking away from the last 20 years with an ever increasing alarmist understanding, in regards to ethics, tactics and strategies: the working classes ethics do not materialize in relation to capitalist society, especially not bourgeoise society, but in its sheer existence among itself. The only ethical relationship to “society”, their “rules based order”, the wars for profit and its barbarous hypocrisy can only be total war.
They’ve finally, and utterly shown the world, our comrades across the globe who they are and what they want, what they stand for and how they intend to get.
It is time we do the same.
Welcome back comrades, we serve the Revolution.
Yours, warmly,
V
