Morning Comrades.
Welcome back to the first of two patreon-only newsletters this week - and by the title you can guess this is going to be a little longer than usual.
With that - the usual pitch - this work is based on a patreon-style platform here on Substack. I write and you can, if possible and wanted, help me put food on our table. Below is a link for a free two-week trial for those able and interested.
We are going to be talking about money for the rest of the week. Not the severe lack all of us have but money as a weapon, specifically, the U.S. Dollar. With the increasing awareness around the reality that currencies are weaponized in reference to the U.S. led conflict with China I will take us on a little deep dive into this topic. I do find it fascinating how, at a time, when I started getting into anti-capitalist politics on a more serious level, the understanding that the USD was being used as a neo-imperial weapon was absolutely clear to most people involved. The Battle of Seattle in 1999 against the WTO was a culmination thereof. Since then, specifically and poignantly after the 2008 Financial Crash, a lot of focus has been taken away from the fact that the USD is a weapon and used so viciously. It is obvious why.
Nevertheless, since the NATO invasion of Libya, again, entirely down to a challenge against the USD hegemony and France’s Hard-On for its dwindling Empire, there not only has been an increasing awareness of the USD hegemony, but it is being actively challenged. Especially, over the last 18months the global control of essentially everything due to the USD hegemony is being faced down by efforts predominately led by China. There is not a day in passing where news will reach me that more and more trade alliances are either being crafted outside the USD or that existing ones are foregoing trading in USD - something that would have resulted in sanctions if not all out war 10 years ago.
With that, we will revisit a little history in regards to the weaponization of the USD what that meant and to a large degree still means to the rest of the world as well as the who’s and how’s. Ideally, I will tap into current events on Friday with a little discourse on the de-dollarization of the world, but for now, let’s get into our enemies most useful and dangerous weapon in its arsenal: the mighty US Dollar. As always, the point is to know your enemy, to be informed and not entertained.
