The Violence Within The Dying Embers Of The Capitalist Empire
And The Logical Reality Of Our Future.
Morning Comrades! Surprise, I did manage to get something together on my day of travel thanks to an extremely smooth and cheap ( you did all hear about the 9€ a month ticket for all travel across Germany didn’t you? ) trip back to Hamburg.
Thanks for indulging me in a few days off, I needed it. As much as I would like to pretend that there is plenty of energy left in these ageing batteries, clearly, these last few years of anxiety, isolation and clear realization of how little control one has over their life have taken their toll. I’d imagine it is the same for everyone and yet, I’m just realizing how quickly said batteries run dry these days and much longer they need to recharge. In any case, thanks for being a supportive and chill community here that allows me to take said days off.
The new weekly jams is out and whilst I have shared that over in our telegram channel and IG already, here is your link and more detail to it here. The wonderful thing about travel is mostly having the privilege of dipping into different social bubbles and this weeks playlist reflects a lot of that, since half of last week was spent with the crew down in Leipzig. For all the new subscribers to this here newsletter, the weekly jams are entirely and decidedly not curated selections of songs that I enjoyed the week prior. The only purpose to them is sharing music because what’s better than sharing tunes with friends? Always throw these in shuffle, enjoy the rabbit holes and off you go.
The insanity of greed, insecurity and violence in the dying embers of the capitalist empire and the logical reality of our future.
Even though I tapped out of social media for the most part last week, one specific event that “exploded” over on German twitter made me think and obviously I’m going to share said thoughts for you.
Sometime last week, a respected journalists here in Germany argued, very clearly, respectfully and logically that in the face of all societal ills, the only logical conclusion would be to rearrange societal relations and structures according to the current communist ideas if humanity wants to make it past the 50 years.
Obviously, i’d agree but the shit storm that reigned down on said person really did surprise me, in its violence, quantity and quite frankly insanity. Or rather wilful ignorance based on the manipulated mind of Capitalism.
Due to that, I wanted to break down the logic, aside and away from all ideological brain rot, especially in regards to the High School levels of identity politics on the “left” in the US and in parts Western Europe. To be absolutely clear, the moment anyone actually starts working with humans to make their and your life better alongside the ideas behind communism, any and all self-perceived ego stroking identity politics go out the window. The moment your self-proclaimed identity becomes more important than the actual work that needs to be done, you need to go outside, touch some grass and let the serious people get to work.
Ok, rant over, for now.
Backing up, set your mind free for a few seconds and try to ignore all the internalized anti-communist brainwashing we all have experienced since birth, especially comrades my age that grew up here in the global north west during the cold war, and let’s have a quick look at what “communism” actually means:
Communism (from Latin communis, 'common, universal') is a philosophical, social, political, and economic ideology and movement whose goal is the establishment of a communist society, namely a socioeconomic order structured upon the ideas of common or social ownership of the means of production, as opposed to private ownership, and can involve the absence of social classes, money, and the state.
That’s it, and yes of course there’s mountains, nay, entire planets worth of ideas and thoughts that went into this idea and how to get here but let’s focus on two aspects here:
One: dialectical materialism and two: more importantly: “a socioeconomic order structured upon social ownership”
So, dialectical materialism, I know, anyone’s normal reaction to that will and quite frankly should be: wtf?!? So let’s keep it real easy, because it is, and once understood just helps move mountains.
Dialectical Materialism is a way of understanding reality; whether thoughts, emotions, or the material world. Simply stated, this methodology is the combination of Dialectics and Materialism. The materialist dialectic is the theoretical foundation of Marxism (while being communist is the practice of Marxism).
Simply put- it’s a way of thinking and understanding your reality, figuring it out and then applying the second, crucial point to any and all actions IF your wish is to work towards communism.
Marxist theory is anything but dogmatic, precisely which its opposing force capitalism has fought so hard against it for the last 150 years, as capitalism’s universal application is based on a the same idea. The core is profit (in capitalism) at all costs and whatever reality it finds itself in, it adapts. The same is true of communism- the core idea is the betterment of all- and whatever reality it finds itself in, it adapts.
Hence the road to communism varying so vastly between for example Cuba and China, there’s no right or wrong (that’s again, a puritanical identity politics internet privilege of western keyboard warriors) just a dialectical material approach to reality.
Now to the more important part of this thought: “a socioeconomic order structured upon social ownership”
Again, take a moment, take a deep breath and have a think, ignore all the realities set in place by your social condition and think.
We worked through several aspects of the antithesis to this over the last months but essentially it boils down to the notion, the social construct of ownership and how we, as individuals and as society react to it.
The question of property is at the core of the above goal and the abolishment thereof is the ultimate goal- if you’re new here please feel free to go through the essay on this subject from a few weeks ago.
If communism’s plan is to rearrange our, as in all of humanities, relationship with our planet into a system where everyone’s needs (that includes the entire planet, not just humans) is meet by the ability of everyone else than that is the most harmonious, sustainable type of relationship currently available to us.
Granted, there might be a better one on the horizon but for now that is the most effective, sustainable and logical way to assemble and structure us humans away from their cancerous existence to a sustainable one.
Again, remove all political indoctrination from your thought process and try to assert these ambitions with reality. Even the most puritanical capitalists cannot find an argument against it that holds up against scientific, logical reasoning- no, the arguments are all, up to this point, hysterical, fear based gibberish based on a predominant male ego and don’t get me started that whole “human nature” bollocks. Essentially, the point I’m trying to bring home here is that logically, scientifically and emphatically, communism is the solution. It’s not a “bad word” and every utterance against it is a defense of the status quo, with all its horrors, at the best of times. No matter how much nonsense the entirety of the establishment, on all sides, rants and raves about the evils of communism, it’s their world that’s ending and ours that is being born.
It is absolutely vital to remember and remain aware of the facts that the heart of the capitalist worlds, the US and to a certain extent the UK, have worked harder than at anyone else fighting this idea- with trillions (quite literally) spent, uncountable working hours, human life’s and wars, both literal and cultural ones - and have over the last 100 some years perfected the indoctrination against it. More importantly, we are all subjected to it within every second of our existence, including myself, and every aspect of our cultural, political and economic output is geared not only to profit but fighting any and all opposing ideas. That in itself should at least raise your interest in the idea.
I have no mind to list all the idiotic, selfish, indoctrinated to violently dangerous arguments against this proposed different social order but to be sure, all ills that we are facing: sexism, racism, theocracy, fascism and so on all stem from from an anti-communist action plan and ideology. Mostly due to this very easy to grasp idea that a different world is possible and that we can simply make it so, if we wish.
Once again, it is absolutely vital to understand that all ills we are subjected to are not set in stone and “just how it is” but the results of political will enforced by the benefactors of capitalism - which none of us are, so get that through your head. No one is just one harder hustle away from “making it” and even if so, at what cost to everyone else.
No, the way out of this downward spiral of planetary destruction is communism. Logically, calmly and without any cultural identity politics attached to. Scientifically and rationally towards a brighter future for everyone.
That’s the jump off point for any rational human being. Capitalism and all its forms, tools and effects has failed and it’s time to accept that.
How to get there, systemically, is not for me to say, but as far as this community goes, I will suggest to take point two into your hearts: “a socioeconomic order structured upon social ownership” and apply that to every part of your life: yourself, work, relationships, nature, review it all with the ambition of rethinking ownership and see where it takes you. Talk about this with those that are dear to you and remember, the true revolution starts at home.
I know, the world right now is scary, unpredictable, violent and all encompassing, for me as well. It’s a struggle to make ends meet and remain positive for our future and the emotional pit of despair is a welcoming black hole that allows anyone to shut out the outside world, for a short time maybe. That’s no longer an option for us and what we do now will determine the future of this world, I know, sounds awfully dramatic but make no mistake, we’re in the end game here and every day, every person matters.
Eith each according to their needs and each according to their abilities we will get there comrades, of that I am certain.
See you out there, until then, I remain yours without compromise,
V
