Morning Comrades.
Almost a year ago I wrote a dispatch out of sheer frustration called “Endgame?!” that resulted in more questions than answers, as the ongoing psychotic destructive spiral of capitalism in the west ( since it pertains to us readers predominately ) defies any logic. Last week we dipped into what dialectical materialism is and in today’s dispatch we will pick up on both of these threads and by applying the scientific method inherent in Marx’s work come to a few cold realities.
To be absolutely clear, again, I do not think we are ready for what is on the horizon, nay, closer than that, here, and I write these words not with glee or giddiness at the coming pain like some giddy 16 year online anarcho brat, but rather, as a stark reminder to myself that a lot of work remains to be done in an increasing short period of time.
At some point armed struggle to free ourselves from capitalism is not only going to happen but will be necessary, be it due the results of man-made climate change or the implementation of fascism 4.0 - most likely a combination of the two. By merely applying the science behind dialectical materialism it becomes utterly clear that the violence inherent and necessary for the bountiful life of the capitalist class here in the west will have to come home. Marxism is not a dogma, but a science. It acknowledges universal truths about our world, specifically that our world is governed by contradictions that at first glance seem unrelated, even directly opposed to one another but are actually bound to each other. This idea of contradiction explains in broad terms the development of class societies since their inception and the inevitable struggle within. For example, an inherent contradiction is between the oppressor and the oppressed, whose interests are always at odd with each other. You then have relative contradiction that in this and our case include mental and physical labour - an essential part within the oppressor / oppressed nature of capitalism- in which the interests of these two classes can unite or oppose depending on the material conditions. The nature of the two poles in a contradiction determine the nature of the relationship and vitally, how we respond to them.
When we apply this to the contradiction underlying capitalism it becomes clear that the relationship is utterly antagonistic, in order for one to prosper, one has to suffer, or many, rather. One will never freely give up power to the other, which we know by studying history, properly. We can see in past historical struggles, where the contradiction between oppressor/oppressed, the old never gave way to the new without violent struggle. Whenever the oppressed developed their movements it came at the expense of the oppressor to the point where war was waged. In short when we study contradictions it serves as a blueprint for what we can expect and thus our strategies, tactics and theories need to be worked, for if it we don’t, someone else will and we have let them have their way for far too long at the expense of countless lives and soon, an inhabitable planet.
So let’s get into it.
