Afternoon Comrades.
I was struggling with what to write today, not for a lack of subjects but due to that underlying, annoying voice inside my head that yells at me for not being able to tackle underlying truths, that, hopefully, will help me get to the bottom of what is bothering me.
I’d imagine this to be the same for most of us that, whilst being bombarded with an endless amount of information and even more pointless opinions, none of which ever get to the point of actually changing what needs changing, and meanwhile only reaffirming the power structures and players that push us further down the meat grinder.
Again, it isn’t for a lack of narratives, the powers that be are seemingly hell-bent on finishing off what wasn’t achieved in the last world war and yet, at the best of times we are offered analysis’ without consequence. There are three drafts currently on my desk, all of which I am sure will see the light of day at some point, all of which, however, continue to leave a bitter taste in my mouth. A bitter taste because the question of “what’s the point” of knowledge, infotainment if harsh truths aren’t put on the table. It is so “easy” to talk, write, offer what to me, today, amounts to nothing more than a distraction, macro-engagement when everything we have discussed here particularly over the last three years boils down to this: we exist and suffer under an ultra-violent oppressive reality, a brutally violent dictatorship of profit, and the only question that this begets is, what are we going to do to regain, or rather, finally gain freedom from this violence?
I am not entirely sure if this clarity is down to frustration, exhaustion and / or a logical conclusion of my own inner / outer dialogue over the last 30 years but as it stands today, I don’t want to clog your inbox with what feels a distraction but rather this: a conversation about logical consequences, violence, freedom and the failure of non-violence. Or rather, what to do in the face of violent oppression that we are all too keen to ignore because us, the proverbial frogs don’t feel the slow boiling water we find ourselves in.
