This is the fuck-yeah-it’s-free version of the newsletters, which is essentially what you are used to seeing from me over on IG. Today’s paid-for newsletter deals with the debate in much more detail and I am offering a short part of it below because I do find it valid enough to share with you. Here is a short excerpt from the subscription based newsletter I just sent out about the debate.
Biden and the DNC are in deep fucking trouble. So are a lot of us who live in the US and a lot of us under the global influence of the US.
Irrespective of what information bubble you are in, I do see a general consensus that Biden “won” last nights debate. I don’t. Sure, it was genuinely surprising to not see Biden fumble through this rhetorically, and yes, the “Shut up man” moment was beautiful on an emotional level for a lot of us, and of course, Trump was “out of control”, but, the entire debate was about Trump and not Biden and a vision for the future.
Trump redefined the game politically, irrespective of what we feel about it. His shouting, lying and hatred works hand in hand with how we get a our information, social media, who profits from rage and misinformation. Biden and the DNC doesn’t deliver on that front, and they are so incredibly scared of supporting any progressive idea, essentially delivering a Trump Light Beer, that large parts of the voting public do have to wonder why they should vote for Biden. My own personal take on Biden is devastating but that’s for another essay…
…Again, culturally, watching this debate was another reminder for me personally that there is still a lot I don’t understand about US culture and decorum, and this may well be why my take on this might be unexpected. I know how to deal with fascists. This isn’t it.
