Morning Comrades.
It took a little longer to get this email to you than usual, mostly because I am exhausted. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t feel like I need to apologize for sending these out later than the self-imposed schedule but the inherent dopamine push of capitalist-based need for productivity is as real at this side of the screen as at yours, I’d imagine.
That whole scenario made for an interesting train of thought though. Similar to most, if not all of you, I am tired, physically exhausted from work and the realities of my own life. That leads to mental exhaustion in my case that manifests itself in such a way that I get sucked into the constant negative feedback loop that has dominated our social interactions over these last 10-15 years - a case against how social media companies operate, I know, but truth be told, I spend a lot less time online these days than I used to 15 years ago.
As I was wrapping up my day yesterday and started to think about what I wanted to write about this week all I could think about was utterly reactionary in its nature, and that is the exact opposite to the point of this newsletter. Of course, I was and am tired and was getting wrapped up in diversion entertainment that is masqueraded as “news”, “cultural discourse” etc. - everything from the bullshit alien story coming out of the lunatic asylum that is Washington DC to the endless bullshitification of social media at the hands of Musk and Zuck and so forth - there certainly isn’t a shortage of bullshit being shoved down our throats.
As always, I aim to make this place as valuable for your ( and mine to be honest ) time as possible, by providing clarity in an ocean of noise that exists to stop us from waking up and smelling the bullshit, or rather the scorched earth, they have left us for their 7th mega yacht. Yet, I struggled finding out of the noise to offer you something worthwhile spending time on.
It is without a doubt that all this noise exists for a reason - let’s dip into the “alien” nonsense for example. Now, I genuinely doubt that we are alone in the galaxy, let alone the universe. However, my guess is that the average number of civilisations in a typical galaxy is low - perhaps less than 1. That’s a guess, based on what we know about the evolution of complex life on Earth. Put simply, it took the best part of 4 billion years here to go from cell to civilisation, and that’s a third of the age of the Universe. I think this MAY imply that, if this is typical (lots of ifs) then the Milky Way may be filled with microbes but not complex living things at our level of intelligence. This would be my guess. That for the last 70 years or so these inter-galactic travelling civilizations predominately “visit” the US alone is mind-numbingly offensive at the very least but what these “revelations”, that were surprisingly echoed across the capitalist-bound information businesses, did was draw attention away from what was really, materially, happening, at the hands of the greedy war pigs in Washington DC. The same can be applied to all the bullshit attention that Musk and Co. get and so on- all this noise saps our energy and obfuscates not only a few vital realities but obstructs what is necessary.
To take a few steps back - the point of “all this” is not to carve out a niche to exist comfortably in and then die - but to leave this place in a better state than we involuntarily were born into. Nothing about what we demand is radical but at the very core, logical - and of course there are those that are opposed to this logic. Greed, Mania, whatever you want to call it - the fact remains, they exist and they have a fuck-tonne more power at their disposal than we do, individually. Not collectively, though. The point then is to find the capability to understand the distractions on offer from them that allow this division, cause alienation, frustration, anger, exhaustion and so forth - consumption parading as freedom - we’ve covered these topics and I know you know. Clarity and logic and the resulting determination to change what they have made so that we may all live in a equitable world without needs or wants is what is needed, no matter how enticing their bullshit dressed up as “culture” is. Ironically, I am too tired right now to put into words how that can be done systemically, or rather on a large scale, but for one, putting forth the notion that this is a reality and one that we need to disregard is a start - only because this is what I need and do, and it helps.
Their distractions exist for two reasons, to keep up us too exhausted/involved/busy and thus easily manipulated and for them to steal the value we produce. As always, at the core of any revolutionary thought and action is the reality that whatever existence they have shaped for us, it is man-made and thus just as easily changed.
Here’s to finding the clarity, strength and unity to do so together.
Yours, warmly,
V
"The fact remains, they exist and they have a fuck-tonne more power at their disposal than we do, individually. Not collectively, though." I feel like reminding one another and being reminded of this is a spiritual practice at this point. How to keep abreast of their fuckery while maintaining some peace. Thanks for your insights, and hope you get some rest soon.
