It is amusing to me that the older I get, that these last weeks of each year become an increasing time for contemplation; amusing in the sense that our measurement of time are in itself a man-made construct and thus trivial. Despite the awareness of this triviality, these last 5-6 years have seen an increasing slowing down in December and spending an increasing amount of time wanting to examine my own constructs of reality and fact-checking them against morality, ethics and so on. I do wonder if this slowing down is in fact a progression or a regression into wanting to conserve a sense of illogical stability. A frighting thought in itself only because the slowing down is linked to rituals such as Advent Sundays, reading the paper on a Sunday etc. - rituals deeply embedded in my own childhood, Christian upbringing and all that White European Nonsense it entails - and thus an obstruction to progression. The breaking down of rituals and patterns to uphold the status quo has often been championed by a radical progressive philosophy that upholds progression as the only safeguard against the establishment and thus abuse of power. Yet, the older I am turning the less I am convinced of this binary attitude towards utopian activism and thought. It’s food for thought, for anyone reading this I hope.
Obviously I am going to use this opportunity of speaking to you on a Sunday to let you know about the last Black Lodges drop of this year that ends today. Included is a t-shirt in collaboration with my friend Kim The Butcher as well as two prints, screen printed, signed, numbered and limited to 20 each. Click on the pictures below to be taken to the online store.
For anyone wondering where the lines from the second print come from:
Since we are on the topic of music, I wanted to share this with you. Robert Smith remixed the Deftones song “Teenager” as part of their upcoming Black Stallion record - new takes on their masterpiece record White Pony. Again, Robert Smith, from the Cure remixed this masterpiece. Mind Blown.
With that, back to the reality of the bullshit being done in our name and with our money, I’ll try and keep these shorter today but vibe checks all the way.
