I was browsing through a number of statements and action plans put out by various politicians around the globe that are either up for re-election or election over the next coming weeks. One talking point that always sticks out is a rallying cry to return to normality. Wasn’t “normality” the problem to begin with?
So I sat down and thought about my own life- I am 42 year white, working class European, privileged as hell basically and tried to remember all of the events that defined my life as I remember it. I then narrowed that list down to all of said events that shaped my world and which were in some way down to the 1% trying to get richer on our backs, which they have done, successfully.
Now, in no shape or form is this list of events representative. It is just what came to mind, what I remembered, events we spoke about at home, I learned about in school, impacted me in some shape or form and so on. It is semi chronological starting from the 1980s up until now. I am sure I missed plenty and if I have please comment below and also add your own in the comment section as I am very curious about that also.
Fact is, this “normalcy” that our so called leaders and masters are peddling is anything but normal. It is one crisis after another that solely exist to push their agenda and fatten their wallets. At a huge human cost. I do think all of these were and are avoidable. I don’t want to go back to normal. I want a better world. Now.
Again, this comes in adult language. This shit just makes me angry.
I feel like this would make a great assignment for my senior students. Just have to figure out what unit it belongs in...thanks for the inspiration (again).
Normality is a road paved for the complacent.
