Morning Comrades.
I’ll attempt to weigh both the reactionary and philosophical in today’s dispatch - which totally made sense in this morning’s shower, now, after a 10hr shift in a hot kitchen not so much, but I’ll try my best.
The context is the US election, specifically, Harris and her new VP nominee and even more specifically, the general positive response thereto. Now, I’ve managed to avoid social media for a day or so until this morning when I was, purposely I believe, shown nothing but backbreaking, bootlicking praise for the both of them. It made me sick before I even had my first coffee and made drop off this post over on IG:
There was a lot of flack, most of which was so juvenile and brainwashed that I happily ignored it but there were a couple of responses that made me think and led me to write a few things down, more so to clarify a position rather than trying to convince anyone of mine. Since, the two retorts came in numbers and occasionally even from people i know this all makes more than sense to me. For the beginning of this I will spell a few thoughts of mine out, and within the patreon part of this dispatch I’ll get into the philosophy of it.
“Why are you constantly criticizing Harris? Do you want Trump to win??” - I usually answer this with a quote from Marx, not to deflect from my own opinion, nor to avoid having to think for myself about this topic but because I believe this statement to be right and he said it better than I could:
But, if constructing the future and settling everything for all times are not our affair, it is all the more clear what we have to accomplish at present: I am referring to ruthless criticism of all that exists, ruthless both in the sense of not being afraid of the results it arrives at and in the sense of being just as little afraid of conflict with the powers that be.
No, I absolutely do not want Trump, in the same breath I absolutely do not want Harris either. Giving up, by accepting the binary status quo that there are only two options gets us to the point where we are at now. By fully embracing the options our masters give us, we accept defeat in the quest for liberation before we set out, it hinders any and all visionary work that we have to indulge and and more importantly, by accepting their reality we blind ourselves to what is possible. A pet peeve of mine is when this defeat is dressed up as pragmatism and self-righteous centrism, for all it does is scream at me that you are ok with existence as it is. I am not. Far from it.
Additionally, I do not believe there to be a genuine difference between the two parties. Sure, in rhetoric there is: Trump is gangster, that employ Christian-Fascist Radicalism and Harris/Biden/Walz promise a lot of normal shit, but never ever follow through on it - this gameplay has been on the table since Clinton defeated Bush back in 1992. If you look ( from this very conservative source mind you ) at Biden’s last 4 years, you get this:
So no, I do not believe any politician in the West for simple truth that they act in accordance to their masters, who, clearly, we are not.
A brief explanation to the second most sent pissed of reply over the last few days:
“Why do you care so much about OUR election, deal with your shit at home”.
For one, I do, plenty and that work does not belong on the internet for the cops to see. Secondly, the day that the US government ceases to be the main and most aggressive threat to all of mankind I will shut up. The brain fucked global, economic, social / cultural hegemony of the US, led by their Capitalists through their government and military is omnipresent, oppressive, reactionary and dangerous to the core. Once that cancer is done with, I will happily be quiet.
There is more lovely hate mail but yeah, I will not waste your time with it.
Now to the philosophical part that relates to the above and starts here:
Let’s get into it.
