Revolutionary Palestine
From the The Arab Nationalist Movement to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine
Morning Comrades.
On Monday we breached the subject of the boogeyman, the manufactured construct within Western Democracies of external enemies that they use to not only justify their barbaric realities but furthermore justify to destroy any and all dissent internally. With that I started thinking about the journey many if not all socialist/ communist/ marxist movements made across the Middle East and North Africa, how little I know about it and how important it is to understand the realities on the ground, especially after 20 year plus indoctrination from our leaders in their racist, anti-arab/muslim narrative post 9/11. All these words, groups, people are being thrown into one mob that according to them we should hate, oppose and if we are all being honest, what do we even know about it all?
Especially, for those of us that have come of age in a post 9/11 world there is little awareness of a “left-wing” history, one which is predominately marxist in its execution, and yet again, all we mostly know and associate with any and all dissent are acronyms that our respective governments will have us believe are militant jihadist - and again, even without understanding what that actually means.
With that, this is an attempt to introduce some clarity into this reality, by focusing, for today, on the Palestinian Struggle since 1948. To be absolutely clear here, I am far from an authority let alone well-read enough on these subjects but am doing my homework. I have reached out to some friends in the region to learn and much of what follows is based on that, and the little time I have spent in Syria, Lebanon and the West Bank whilst having helped are not enough and thus I am still learning and I implore everyone to do the same.
For today, let’s have a look at the evolution to the PFLP, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - a communist organisation that is the second largest faction and the main opposition force to Fatah within the PLO.
