Morning Comrades!
We are going to end this week with another experiment. I told you that I was planning on making “some” changes to this project over time this is just part of it. Rather than yapping on about what’s what, here is your 4th episode of Hot Shots. With a surprise. I will leave it at that but watch this, that being the key word.
Obviously, heaps of topics covered in here and I would greatly appreciate your input. As mentioned in the first couple of episodes, all of these are not edited, mostly I have no clue what I am doing, like a boomer on tiktok I am making these up as I go along and well, thanks for tuning into this and the previous ones. Let’s see where this goes in the future - disclaimer, I have no plan.
The rest of this email is going to be resource heavy as always to leave you with plenty of topics to dig into over the weekend.
Here is another reading list for you to dig into from Verso - I believe their 70% off Sale is still running so now is the time, if ever. This list is excellent, it is a lot of really fun and easy to read work to ease you into the realties of anti-capitalism, mostly without a lot of the more complex economic and social theories. If you have ever been curious about this topic, this is your starting point.
Subtle reminder that this week’s playlist is a total banger, weird but fun and I figured some good tunes for the weekend never hurt anyone.
Art and The Working Class
Ok, yes, another book recommendation but I am extremely excited about this one because this is the first time it has been translated into English and the good people at Peace, Land and Bread and not only selling the physical copy for 12USD but you can download a PDF version for free.
Art and the Working Class is the work of Alexander Bogdanov, a revolutionary polymath and co-founder, with Vladimir Lenin, of the Bolshevik faction of the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party. Bogdanov was a strong proponent of the arts, co-founding the Proletarian Culture (Proletkult) organization to provide political and artistic education to workers.
El Golpe - US Labor, the CIA, and the Coup at Ford in Mexico
Another, and yes, this is the last one for this week, book recommendation about an illustrative example of how the CIA and the US government works, especially in regards to money, workers and worker rights. This story isn’t necessarily known outside of Mexico but it is a big deal only because it is outlandishly wild, all true and just hammers down the reality of who we are dealing with. Get This!
Your Weekend Audio Visual Infotainment
That concludes this week. I hope you enjoyed this week here and I thank you for your attention and time. Enjoy the weekend, I’ll be back here come Monday. Until then, I remain yours, without compromise,
