Morning Comrades! For the last time ever the CdG Rip is available now until Sunday in both white and black. I have gotten too many Cease and Desists to carry this one forward and in any case, there is plenty of new gear to be made. So yes, this is your last chance to get this one. Click on either one of the pictures and you’ll be taken directly to the online store. Thank you for your consideration and support, as always.
I am keeping today’s recommended reading list down to one because it is a special book to me. It’s a little older, from 2015, but it essentially kicked started my PhD Thesis and I still believe this book is an absolute masterpiece in utopian realism- aka, what the fuck are we going to do during and after the revolution aka let’s not turn to fascism once again when capitalism explodes.
Inventing the Future: Postcapitalism and a World Without Work by Nick Srnicek and Alex Williams
Inventing the Future is a bold new manifesto for life after capitalism. Against the confused understanding of our high-tech world by both the right and the left, this book claims that the emancipatory and future-oriented possibilities of our society can be reclaimed. Instead of running from a complex future, Nick Srnicek and Alex Williams demand a postcapitalist economy capable of advancing standards, liberating humanity from work and developing technologies that expand our freedoms.
If you read one book this summer, make it this one.
Speaking of books, a comrade suggested I include food recipes in these here emails, which I think is a great idea- and yes, I am putting together a new cook book for fall but in the meantime, you can still download the first and second edition of my Anarchist Cook Book below.
Again, there isn’t going to be any hot shots or the fuckening today but I will pass along a few recommendations for your weekend infotainment outside of the usual realm. Yet, I am going to start with a more mainstream recommendation that I watched yesterday and, well, shit, I would like to talk about this one for a moment.
Now, I am generally extremely cautious whenever platforms like Netflix of Amazon produce “documentaries” for all the obvious reasons. Like Facebook Inc I do consider them to be the enemy with an agenda opposed to mine. Nevertheless, I watched this and I do believe it is worth your time. The narration is awful, it’s very fucking Netflix’y, white boy hipster realizing just how brutal Capitalism actually is, BUT, the middle part of this documentary actually does a pretty good job at explaining and exposing the utter corruption, destruction and brutality at the heart of fishing. Now, I don’t eat fish or seafood but am very aware of how vitally important the oceans are to our survival and solely based on this, this is worth your time. There are some willful mistakes in here that are agenda based and ignore the white boy tear “oh the world is so bad” bullshit but watch this if you haven’t already.
As to the rest of these recommendations I am going to leave them without comment for you, they are all great food for thought and worth your time.
That's it for today comrades. I hope you enjoyed this week as much as I did, thank you as always for your time and generous support without which none of this would happen. Get some sun and downtime into you. Much love!
