Morning Comrades! This is the last week where there is no difference between the free and paid for newsletter. After this week the free newsletter will essentially be what you were used to seeing from me over on IG - doodles, stories and playlists, 5 days a week. The subscription newsletter gets the daily free jams plus commentary, a separate more in depth email 2-3 times a week, discount codes on all product, the interviews and so on. You can sign up at anytime, and opt out of course, below - or not and stick to buying t-shirts and co to support this little world of ours, it’s all good either way.
No point in asking if anyone had a chilled weekend because, well, I am sure most of you were busy managing real life and the shit that the world threw at the news agencies this weekend, as I was. Granted, a lot of the worlds important news didn’t make the social media cut- protests in Thailand, more protests in Belarus, a new political leadership in Japan, Boris Johnson along the rest of the UK government as well as the so called opposition continuing to prove that inbreeding among Etonites really isn’t a good idea for the 21st Century, the EU continuing in their vastly racist immigration policy and so on, but yup, Ruth Bader Ginsburg died, throwing the already derailed, high on cocaine and fascism, US political and factual reality back on to the daily world news stage. Madly, and if it wasn’t for the fact that the US has the biggest, most aggressive bloody army ever seen on this side of Jesus’s historical account, mixed with ratings agencies based in the US that can, on a bad day of cocaine, fuck up an entire continents financial stability, this really wouldn’t matter. It does though, with at least 150 US nuclear missiles still based in my current country of residence, a fact often lost on many of my U.S. based friends, whatever lunatic high on shitty blow, interns, racism mixed with a bit of corruption on Wall Street acts like he is running the show over there, really matters around the rest of the world.
I am not going to repeat many of the talking points about RBG’s passing, legacy or impact here. It’s been said and done. I wasn’t a fan of a lot of her work but so be it. Two things that remain clear to me after this weekend: Having a court as powerful as the Supreme Court is a shite idea, having it run by lifelong political appointments is a really shite idea. That needs a serious change. Secondly, Trump and his merry gang of fascists aren’t going to listen, give a shit, or do anything they made the Democrats do in 2015/16. Do not waste your breath even uttering a word about decorum or civility. It’s not going to happen. Instead, ask yourself how you can sabotage another fascist takeover in the Supreme Court - if that rapist, racist Kavanaugh wasn’t enough, and that’s it.
This weeks playlist is a little different than usual only because I have spent a significant amount of my free time watching old Wim Wenders films and have subsequently thought about and listened to a lot of old(er) Road Movie soundtracks, think Lynch, Jarmusch and so on, which makes this playlist a real beauty but that’s just me. Let me know what you think of this one.
Ok, fair, I did have to post these because, c’mon. Too much white US liberal bullshit was posted this past weekend to truly ignore it.
Always remember, poverty is a policy decision paid for by the 1%, executed by every politician that hates and lies to you to get your vote to legitimize their corruption.
Yes, this is real, no this isn’t satire, and yes, this is what Capitalism, the great bringer of freedom has on offer to solve this pandemic and essentially, lethal climate change.
I have my moments on twitter when I am not too busy hating on that piece of shit company as well. If you’re on there, say hi, but i am seriously not mad if you won’t.
