Morning Comrades and welcome back! Thanks for sticking around after last weeks break from the usual program. I ended up going to Berlin to touch some grass, well, in reality, I slept for 12hrs every day and managed to step away from some, if not most, of the fuckening circulating in my little world. Needed and nice. Of course, the brain doesn’t stop thinking but stepping out of my usual routine helped me think about what is what from a slightly different perspective and that’s what we are going to be, briefly, touching on today.
Some tunes to get everyone in the mood though, Weekly Jams 157 is now ready for you all to jump into.
Super Bluesy / Moody this one, yeah Fall started in earnest here, of course, but that usually means more type o’ for me and not this, zero complaints of course, who doesn’t enjoy some moody ass blues but for shits and giggles, again, without any curation from my end, it’s just how it went last week, some off-beat electronica, psych and more. Enjoy this one.
On Seeking Truth
I spent most mornings last week reading Chinese Marxist Philosophy. I know, from the outside that sounds like the last thing anyone would do on their vacation but hear me out. I was frustrated and annoyed with essentially everything that social and traditional media was throwing at me over the last few weeks, no matter the source or political corner it came from. Everything from the fascist / capitalist culture wars being lapped up by the terminally online “lefties”, the insane reaction to the Queens death back home, the usual deadly hypocrisy of the “west”, wars, climate crisis, cost of living crisis - you name it, not only was it getting too much but I felt extremely frustrated about what was being said and mostly not done about it all.
It’s easy to get into the pit and pick on the bones the capitalist class throws at us to keep us not only divided but more importantly occupied so that they can continue to loot and destroy the planet with no interest in humanity. It’s fascinating even to me how much energy it takes to not jump at the culture wars passed up through the media - this now includes everything, from print, radio, tv, film to social - it all exits to engineer a narrative that helps the 200 plus people on this planet that own it all - and that is where the rabbit hole of Chinese Marxist Philosophy comes in.
Essentially, I get mad at myself for “reacting” to all the bullshit we are being fed on the daily as it costs energy, of which I am having less and less the older I get. The point of life is service to others and with my own premise of acutely spending my time building revolutionary material realities for my community I needed some guidance about what to do, how to do it and re-focus my mind and subsequent actions.
Make no mistake, as crazy, delusional, openly christo-fascist, ecologically-destructive the drive of our increasingly scared capitalists seems now, it’s going to get infinitely worse. The death of the Western Empire, albeit taking place much quicker than I had ever anticipated, isn’t going to happen over 6 months with a live ticker on TikTok, nonetheless, this is just beginning. It is going to sisyphian energy and resources to not only get through this but to build the world we want and desperately need. This is where the title from this dispatch comes from, seeking truth from facts, which is one of three pillars of Chinese Marxist Philosophy, or more specifically, action. Without “Truth” there can be no genuine action, only reaction, and reacting has been the way of the “West’s Left” for the last 50 years with all the obvious results.
This quote, that is part of the of CCP’s founding principles really struck me as it takes the theoretical understanding of reality ( dialectical materialism ) and places it firmly, and with purpose into action, as in: how to make it through the bullshit. Add then this little snippet:
How does this apply to us all here though, or rather what’s the point of sharing this. I don’t think that I am alone when it comes to feeling overwhelmed and not at the wheel of my own impulses in regards to ho we are sold reality here in the West. As I see it, we are constantly fed and told to react as to withhold our revolutionary potential. Sounds awfully like a mad-hatter conspiracy theory but its an itch that appears more and more truthful by the day. As this newsletter always aims at helping and providing the tools to further each and everyones potential for a better tomorrow please read the above in direct relation to how we are sold “truth”, for that, it is entirely not.
Corporate and semi-corporate ( breadtube etc ) exists to generate capital and form a narrative that supports the people getting paid. Taking the above into account: Don't just believe anything. And I mean anything at all. Half the political arguments I see are because people have simply believed one corporation or another. Use that critical thinking. Look for sources. Then look for THOSE sources. A lot of modern narratives leave out incredibly important facts. They also manipulate context and what facts they do present to make us come to the conclusions they want, which do not line up with actual reality. For example, the establishment wants us all to drink up the fantasy that the British Monarchy embodies “the best of Britain”, when in reality it is the exact opposite. It is the enduring embodiment of the worst of Britain: inherited wealth and privilege, a brutally enforced and rigid class system that favours the ruling class, structural racism, imperialism and unaccountable power. Protest that narrative and you will get locked away, which is all you need to know about the “truth”. In the mighty words of George Carlin:
Surviving and ideally thriving over the next few years is going to be a challenge, but I am nevertheless optimistic. Seek out truth through praxis, build sustainable non-transactional care networks in your community and don’t pick at the bones the rich and powerful throw at you. As a start.
Yours, warmly,
V
