Morning Comrades.
We are taking a little break from the art series this Friday only because, for one, I haven’t had the time to properly get into it this week and secondly, there has been an abundance if topics I haven’t been able to touch upon here that I wanted to share with you.
To kick start your weekend, a subtle reminder to get in to this weeks playlist. Click the below to get lost in some 3hrs of tunes that might even help you get through the rest of this dispatch.
Ever so often I come across together stories, articles and threads that have caught my attention that I want to get into only for my mind to wander and think about the larger picture, what all this information means to us and, more importantly, what to do about it, if anything at all. Over the last few years I have become increasingly allergic to reactionary writing, essentially what constitutes for journalism these days and feel increasingly aware of not wanting to waste your time with another hot take but rather offering ( potential ) solutions. Opinions are like assholes and too many people get paid for using theirs for their non-intended purposes, i.e. talking shit. The flip side of that conversation, however, is, that I feel I have done sufficient deep talk this week and feel the need to share what has been keeping me interested this week.
With that, enjoy the below. If there is need from commentary, you’ll see it, if not, just click on the pictures for stories to hopefully perk your interest. Take these into your weekend and as always, stay informed, not entertained. The days of the colosseum are behind us.
Seeing that a large part of this readership is from the U.S. and its your “Thanksgiving” weekend, if you do one thing, read the below.
If you ever want to hear Neil Young talk shit without being stuck with a PR person, this is probably the closest anyone will ever get to hearing the dude go off the deep end. I hugely enjoyed this. He fucks with everyone here.
Oh and Margaret Atwood, yes, that Margaret Atwood who wrote A Handmaids Tale and whose words have influenced more than one Idles tunes is now on Substack and it does not disappoint:
This is a wonderful take on exploring the importance and relevance on Rosa Luxemburg’s theoretical work and why it remains so utterly relevant today:
Part one of this insane story developing at the deep end of yet another crypto crash, corruption, wars, the government, media and so much more. I make no claim to fully understand let alone care about any of this crypto nonsense but as these stories develop, even I am shocked / surprised at the depths of governmental corruption:
Following the above, this was wild to read. I am still unsure how I feel about it only because I haven’t made the time to really dig into the sources and resources of this piece, but even if it fan fiction, which it isn’t but I am going to treat it as such until I get into it, this is wild:
Speaking of more corruption and fuckery, this was a good one:
To follow up on the insidious workings of the U.S. government, enjoy this one:
That’s it from me comrades. Thank you for your interest, time and attention. I’ve got a number of weekend shifts ahead of me so save me a turkey sandwich and a cold one.
Much revolutionary love and rage to and with you all.
Yours,
V
