Morning Comrades.
This is a wonderful topic to explore and I never tire of going through it, predominately as it shows dialectism at work, both material and historical as well showing wilful listeners on these shores just how euro/white-centric our entire understanding of reality is.
Obviously, as a person born here in the Global North West that is starting on their journey in marxist thought and praxis, or as someone that has already been at it for decades, the initial response to the question of Nationalism & Marx is an easy no - two seemingly opposing theories that do not work together. Correct at surface level but then, when one looks at the actual successful revolutions around the world, Cuba, Vietnam to Burkina Faso they all acted on the principle of nationalism and socialism, their national question playing an integral role in mobilizing the disenfranchised against their oppressors, usually, us, white European and those of that descent.
Seeing that this is such an important litmus test for any and all serious debate and action going forward in our collective struggle against the systemic oppression under Capitalism, let’s get into the question of Nationalism, Marxism and our future.
