Morning Comrades!
It is May Day and rather than serving up some history that I would imagine most of you have read and / or heard about a few thoughts and practical tips.
For the readers in the US, make this your labour day already. Thanks.
Every year this day comes around, I often get told that people will not come out to walk the city, organized or not on May 1st as they don’t consider themselves “workers”. It’s a horrific yet fascinating result of a 50 year plus propaganda campaign here in the West to eradicate solidarity with ones class and even more, getting rid of a class aware society all together. For all the anti-communist money that has been spent in the West over the past 100 years our capitalist feudal overlords certainly have taken on a lot of way and means from the various red books around the world - from establishing a class-less society, albeit only in thought not in action to utilizing Grasciam Hegemonic tactics to build power from below thought cultural wars. Side note though.
To be entirely clear, unless you part of the ominous 1%’er club, and none of those bastards reads this here newsletter, you are worker and you are part of the working class. Granted, you can get into the Marxist Class theory that includes the bourgeois, and yes, they are as much of a problem on the way to liberation, as far as the crowd on here goes, we’re workers. Fascinatingly enough many people still struggle accepting this, mostly due to the brainwashing that has taken place for generations that we workers are worthless and that upward mobility into the other classes should be the one redeeming action of lives.
Yeah, fuck that.
Workers Create Wealth. No One Else.
It is nigh on time that we all take pride in the fact that without us, without our skills, labour and energy their whole existence would literally not exist. Furthermore, it is nigh on time that we workers get together and demand, no take, the entire value of our labour and let them parasitic wastoides hang out to dry.
That’s what you go out on the streets for on May 1st. Not only to honour those that have achieved so much for us over the last 200 years but to put the bastards on notice.
A few practical tips before you go out and whilst you are out, because, you know, cops.
To be absolutely clear, the cops, like every year will be out in force to not only protect the bastards and their properties but also, and this is especially the case here in Europe, to instigate riots. Yup, I have forgotten how many times we have busted undercover cops trying to infiltrate various groups with the sole mission to instigate riots, usually involving property damage for the sole purpose of increasing police budgets, more undercover cops and enforcing “law and oder” on that day by brute force. Again, to be clear, the people who are the problem on this day, or rather every are cops. To ensure you have a good day, in solidarity and joy with your fellow workers a few tips before you head.
Create Affinity Groups: That means, figure out whom you want to head out with, where to meet, where to finish on the da and in case of separation where to meet. Super simple, but the old adage of strength in numbers really holds true and in my experience group sizes from 4-10 people work best.
Bring easy to carry food. Banana’s, power bars, water and dried fruits. Again, common sense really, but you really don’t want to be hungry/hangry when facing a line of riot cops. It sucks, take me word for it.
Wear indistinguishable, practical clothing. It may be sunny in the morning, but do you really want to be stuck in shorts when the rain and tear gas comes? Nah. Light layered rain coats, no bog logos and bright colours usually do the trick. Obviously, if you are going to family picnic that day organized by your local social democrat party, these tips really don’t apply, but for some reason I don’t think that is going to be the case for most readers here.
During the day: stay on foot and remain mobile. Figure out if local groups are using telegram / signal etc to keep people informed of police movements. Have at least one person in your group monitor that so you don’t end up being surrounded and detained. Again, happened to me way too many times and it’s easily avoided and should be, simply because it isn’t fun.
Make banners to hang outside your house, bridges and so on for visibility. That shit works and seeing friendly messages in and around town always builds morale. Make stickers for the day and colour up your town.
Obviously, the above are only suggestions and rough guidelines for those of you that can and maybe will go out properly on Sunday. Obviously, that is not the only way to show support and solidarity on that day and no matter what you can do on Sunday, make a point to do so. Again, it is entirely all about showing up and putting bodies in the streets.
