Morning Comrades! Finally, some new art, right? Yeah, that’s kind of what I thought these last few days. Truth be told, I haven’t put down a pen to paper for the better part of these last 10 months, for multiple reason, most of which are far too personal to put down in here but here we are. The above is a collage from a few mid 70s postcards, depicting Karl Marx Stadt, today’s Chemnitz, that was renamed to back in 1952 in recognition of its industrial heritage and the Karl Marx Year marking the 135th anniversary of his birth and the 70th anniversary of his death. GDR Prime Minister Otto Grotewohl said:
The people who live here do not look back, but look forward to a new and better future. They look at socialism. They look with love and devotion to the founder of the socialist doctrine, the greatest son of the German people, to Karl Marx. I hereby fulfill the government's decision. I carry out the solemn act of renaming the city and declare: From now on, this city bears the proud and mandatory name Karl-Marx-Stadt.
Stay tuned for this weekends drop, below, about what’s going to happen with that.
Whilst I am insanely deep into developing new product for Black Lodges to last us until early December, I realized I had not run the above graphic in red before. That’s happening as a Long Sleeve and a T-Shirt starting Friday, or Thursday if you are one of the paying supporters of this newsletter and the above Marx Collage will be part of the package as a free print for all.
Abigail Thorne released a new Philosophy Tube video over the weekend and yeah, you need to watch it. I do, so very much, enjoy her work in regards to philosophy especially how she ties in centuries of critical thought into the every day discourse and this is no exception, on the contrary, this should shape it all. Yes, it is that good.
With that, I am going to leave you with a number of hot shots for now. I wish I had more thorough points of discussions for today but truth be told in between the reality of my private life, organizing BL for the rest of the year and still being wholly involved and engrossed in the end of the 20 year war the “west” just decided to end, as well as the rest of the fuckening, yeah, it’s been a full few past days. With that, I hope you’ll excuse the lack of genuine deep talk today and nonetheless enjoyed this mid-week analysis of what’s happening in our world.
