Morning Comrades and welcome back to your second patreon-only dispatch this week, in which we will continue our conversation about Marx and Money, specifically, Commerce and Capitalism.
Not only are we going to look at the actual differences between the two but additionally engage in a little utopianism and start a conversation about what commerce could look like on the way towards a more egalitarian society. Initially, I had planned to include a few words about democracy at work also, but that draft is already twice the length of what it should be so realistically, that is going to be another conversation for next week.
All too often people like ourselves are confronted by trolls, on and offline, when discussing alternatives to our current economic and thus social reality with statements such as: “oh you sell your art but want to be communist, curious!” - you all know the type, and sure, this essay is partly in response to that tired old trope. Additionally, I hope this explanation can and will serve to create a sense of clarity between commerce and capitalism, both historically and in an utopian sense.
I have also uploaded a new print for the patreons at the end of this newsletter that, in addition to the print file, includes a print ready file of the graphic for you to use as you wish, t-shirts, hats for example. It’s yours to do with as you wish and a small token of my appreciation for keeping this project running. As always, you can become a patreon of this newsletter for 5USD a month and below is a link for a 2 week Free Trial. Much love to you all.
