Lifting The Veil Of Democracy
Morning Comrades.
Initially, I was going to postpone this dispatch by a day as I am still, at the time of writing - around 10pm my time on Sunday - waiting on the election results coming out of Italy. Obviously, when a fascist coalition looks more than likely to win a general election in the heart of Europe one pays attention. However, the more I thought about shooting off an obvious reaction to the most likely results the more I got annoyed with myself, falling into the reactionary trap of shouting off the most obvious information that truly, most if not all of you already know. It’s a sickening reality that story telling these days mostly evolves around narrative production to appease, and thus in our age of total commodification, make money, when story telling truly at its core should speak truth to power. Nothing less, nothing more.
So you’re getting this now with a few more thoughts about the above following the regular music program.
New week, new tunes and again, another 3hr session to keep you warm in these cold days, both figuratively and literally. I spent most of last week in the kitchen and since my co-workers aren’t all that crazy about me skipping a million tunes an hour just to find something that tickles my brain, you’ll find a few deep dive classics on this one, plenty of new music from bangers such as Torche, some downright mellow jams and more. It’s a fine session for anyone that needs a smile and tunes.
The Veil of Democracy
Coming back to the above, yes, of course, it is important to note when an openly fascist alliance of parties is elected into power, in any government, in any part of the world. Pointing this out and more importantly, knowing and doing what it takes to not only protect the weakest in said societies in the crosshairs of any fascists but also weakening any and all fascists is what the job is, of course.
Nevertheless, I kept coming back to the realities of our existence. The fact that we essentially live under a dictatorship of capital is something I realize escapes most people on surface level. but what gets me is this: If whatever ruling party in your part of the world, openly says that they are pro-democratic - and why we inherently believe that “democracy” equals socialist, humanist attributes is something worth talking about - but enacts nothing but fascist shit, what’s the difference between them and a party that openly says that this is what they are going to do?
Right?
It truthfully matters little if anything at all if the US Democratic parties, for example, no matter the President, jibba jabbers about concepts like Freedom & Democracy, and yet in the first two weeks of demonstrations against police violence in the wake of the murder of George Floyd arrested well over 17`000 of its citizens, excercising “rights” under their so beloved export idea of democracy. It matters little that the ruling parties in Britain, especially in most recent times, the Tories, are genuine criminals, in the class war sense but also in the legal “thievery” sense. Britain is run by a Prime Minister with no mandate to rule, is strip-mining the country and robbing the poor to further enrich those that paid for said PM to be in power.
The greatest misconception, engineered by the most intense propaganda machinery ever seen on this planet to date, is that the “system” is here to protect us and that we, by means of democratic measures, have a say and a fraction of control of who rules us, draconically. The “system” does however doesn’t care and most definitely does not give a rats ass about you, me, any issue that is important for the most of us and it will, and does sacrifice everyone you love and care about to ensure one thing, and one thing only: profit and more profit. No matter the cost.
Democracy? What Democracy? It’s a cheap brand these days that is being squeezed to death at Walmart, a blood covered flag our so called political leaders drape themselves with when they whip racism & fascism in the wilfully under-educated, hungry masses to justify yet another war in the name of “freedom”.
I would wager that even now, given 40 plus years of turning us all into hungry, obedient dogs oversaturated in narcism, give a true call, the vast majority of your neighbours would opt for peace, fair wages, free healthcare and guaranteed housing. Yet we are faced with the exact opposite, crisis’ after crisis’ that leave us and our comrades even hungrier and in more precarious situations to make us even more obedient. A hungry dog is an obedient dog and the game plan of the capitalists, through the illusion of democratic grandeur, has always been that: obedience to consume. When even the capitalists get worried about their illogical need for constant growth, the deploy their fascists goons. Time again, and again.
With that, does it matter if any openly fascist alliance of parties will potentially will in Italy’s generation election? Yes, it does.
Nevertheless, we need to shake any and all misconceptions that the alternatives, no matter where you live, are any different, other than in vocabulary and showmanship. Truly, it makes no difference if the cops that breaks your arm during any protest is ordered to do so by a “democratic” or “fascist” party.
Democracy is a great idea. Communists have always been for it. We just don’t and never have lived in one. Maybe we should start making that happen.

Remain and become revolutionary comrades. We have nothing to lose but our chains.
Yours, warmly,
