Obviously, we have to speak about the last 48hrs in D.C., I’ll come with a few warnings before I do though, you may not like what you will read here. There will be a comment option after these words, feel free to use it. Anyone that has or will act surprised at what happened needs to be shut the fuck down immediately, and if they are in a position of amplification no matter the media outlet needs be doxed and fired immediately. This explosion of anger wasn’t spontaneous, it has been planned, announced and talked about for years, with dates, plans and action plans in the public eye and thus allowed to have happened. There cannot be a different interpretation. Thus, we need to ask the question of who gains to profit? Trump and Co.? Certainly. The Police? Most definitely. Every politician in D.C.? Certainly, you can bet your ass that the first response from Biden and Company will be to increase police funding, tightening the already insanely tight grip of the surveillance apparatus on you and me in the name of your safety and freedom. Rather than arresting everyone present at said “protest”, including Trump and Company and putting them on trial for treason - I am speaking from the perspective of governance, personally I have other ideas - which is what should have happened yesterday and it won’t. They’ll find some scapegoat and make a show trial to deflect responsibility as per usual but not utilizing their power to stump this festering fascist bullshit out will not be an option, because it helps Democrats and Republicans alike.
To dig a little deeper, on principle I agree with storming any place of government and ending the outrageously corrupt and violent rule of Capital by any means necessary. To state the obvious, there is very very little I could potentially agree with any Maga/QAnon Fascist Derp, but the core idea that they were lured with is essentially the same: it is a top to bottom class warfare, politics is corrupt and WE have the responsibility and means to end it. Obviously, this is where any and all ideological similarities separate yet this is precisely what we on the left have been saying and fighting against for well over 100 years. Let’s be clear, this isn’t a veiled attempt to agree with the idiotic horseshoe theory, in no way an attempt to agree with anything those raging lunatics put forward but if anything a wake up call to put our ideas into an actionable perspective. We have tried voting, peacefully protesting, building alternative power structures and infrastructures, education, social programs that have all at every turn been confronted by the full force of the state and then been co-opted by capitalism. What happened in D.C. just showed how easy it all is. However, it also is the final proof of how easy and effective brain washing and mass manipulation has become, if anyone needed proof here it is. Do I suggest we on the Left use the same tactics? No I don’t, especially in regards to populist manipulation, as tempting as it can appear, it is a fraudulent short term solution with no real power basis.
Finally, and this cannot be stated more clearly, we need to look at who gains what from this. What we saw in D.C. wasn’t the result of a division in actionable political ideas on a 2 dimensional horizontal playing field. This wasn’t a Star Wars type fairy tale of right vs wrong, what it was however is a 3 dimensional power play by Capitalism via the means of Class Warfare. Both parties are equally to blame, the DNC’s willful inaction and participation in- over the last 40 years of neo-liberalism and the Republicans blatant plundering over the same amount of time. They are One and against Us. We need to come a decision about Facebook, Google and Twitter. They gain the most from this class warfare that we are set to lose, and again, this isn’t news, we have been saying this for years now, but the time for debate is over. Not only do we need to break up these undemocratic monopolies but we need to move them into the public hand, force them to operate on a non-profit basis and persecute those responsible, both in the private and political area for their actions. For starters.
There are plenty more lessons to be take from all this but this is what I have after 48hrs and this morning.
How To Be An Anti-Capitalist in a Capitalist World
Swap Boxes! These are relatively common here and they certainly do not need to be as fancy as the one above, nor do they have to be out in public, you can put these up in your apartment complex or anywhere. They can be temporary or semi-permanent and they remove the entire construct of exchanging goods from the capitalistic system, be it ebay or craigslist etc. The more these appear the clearer it can become to entire neighborhoods that we all already have everything we need and that sharing is the a wonderful means to reduce consumption.
If you are going to listen to one piece of music today make it this. Brilliant as usual.
