Morning Comrades.
Today’s dispatch may at first glance appear to be a little abstract, and to a certain degree I understand how that is so, but if I may, let me explain the context. One of main interests of study and then reality is power. How do we get it, how do we mange it and what do we do with it. In a really niche way that was the essence of my thesis and the interest remains, more so than ever to be honest. Predominately because without power, we cannot change the injustices at hand.
The construct of land, the earth that we live on, is a massive part of this topic, as melodramatic as it may sound, but without land, nothing can and will happen. The entire field of study around the commons enclosure deals with this issue and amazing work has been produced in that field and much of what I know comes from that area, as well as a few practical examples that you can ask me about offline.
Before I get into it, a very important and essential distinction has to be made here, because I can already hear the question. If, and it is, the prime point of working towards communism is the abolition of private property then why are we talking about land, the distinction between ownership and possession on that way towards that idea? To be clear, and this is not some random idea that I come up with to justify anything, it’s been explained and done by those who actually overthrew their capitalist dogs, that the path to liberation includes the possession of the land. The path is different than the goal, which, I know, obviously so, but as always, let’s spell it out to avoid confusion.
With the way capitalism is solidifying here and more and more people wanting change, a possible path of revolution on the horizon this subject is very much on the forefront of my thinking and I figured it would be beneficial to share this with you.
To start, let’s bring this into our context by listening to what Malcom X said about this topic and revolution in the US:
There's no such thing as a nonviolent revolution…Revolution is based on land. Land is the basis for all independence. Land is the basis of freedom, justice, and equality.
Revolution is bloody, revolution is hostile, revolution knows no compromise, revolution overturns and destroys everything that gets in its way. And you, sitting around here like a knot on the way, saying, "I'm going to love these folks no matter how much they hate me," No, you need a revolution. Whoever heard of a revolution where they lock arms....singing "We Shall Overcome?" You don't do that in a revolution. You don't do any singing, you're too busy swinging.
It's based on land. A revolutionary wants land so he can set up his own nation, an independent nation. These Negroes aren't asking for any nation -- they're trying to crawl back on the plantation.
