Morning Comrades.
Every now and then I put together a list of essays, stories and tidbits that have caught my attention and it is that time ago. I figured it was time to change the title of this though as “News From The Void” started getting stale at this end of the screen. The point of these is manifold. For one, none of what I write and share with you exists let alone comes from a vacuum, whatever spare time I have I spend reading, talking and researching and sharing the sources and stories that influence and inspire this newsletter is not only good practice but solidifies the point of this project. It’s not a one man pony show but as with all things Black Lodges, understood as a communal platform for politics, art and action. Additionally, and despite wishing I could spend every day doing so, I cannot and I would imagine most of you can’t read all I want to share either, thanks to this pesky bullshit called rent & work.
As it stands this will most likely be the last one of these this year, not dispatch but the last one in this series this year to be clear. I will be taking a wee break come December 23 and return January 6- amazingly, our kitchen, restaurant, catering and private dining operation is also closed during this time so I am hoping to get some rest in during that time. I am going to try and put together a little special something for everyone before then, but no promises.
As with all of these dispatches, most of these stories don’t require commentary from me. Rest assured if commentary and / or context is needed I will do so. Thanks for paying attention, have your heart in the (left) place and supporting this project. Your support, either via sharing this newsletter or becoming a patreon has quite literally saved my ass this year, both mentally and materially.
Without further ado, here’s this months International Discourse. Everything is linked in their respective pictures / headers.
Let’s start with some music, and quite frankly this is going to be my record of the year. Not only is Fontaines D.C. one of the most played bands in this apartment but this performance is out of the world. Of course, aided by the very political decision to play this show in Kilmainham Gaol as an Irish band - it is an old prison where the British Army & Crown murdered a large majority of Irish Revolutionaries - it shouldn’t and doesn’t deflect by the sheer genius and talent of this band. I am certain the entire show is available to watch somewhere but here is a personal favourite.
That’s it from this department for the time being.
Again, thank you for your time and attention,
Yours,
V.
