Morning Comrades.
I have just looked through the 5 year archive of this substack and out of the 700 plus dispatches over that time, well over half of them were dedicated to fascism. Nothing wrong with that in the slightest but at the same time, here we are. Whatever notion that we still hold of “freedom” under Capitalism should, and truly, has to be over at this point. To argue that the system that we are forced to endure every day, and yes there are varying degrees of bullshit to endure, of course, is anything but fascist in its core is akin to total delusion.
To say that I have dedicated the majority of my available time since 1990 fighting the logical conclusion of capitalism, the actuality of its power is accurate and from that arose several realities I figured are worth sharing, because, hell, we’re here. No need to sugar coat the fact that no matter how many benzos one can pop to endure it, the capitalists have stopped the theatre play, drawn back the curtains and all we are faced with is a brick wall. Before I get into the theory of it all, knowing me, for the rest of the week, a few words on why we fight fascism. I know, it seems like a obsolete question but at this stage of the reality that the overton window has created, I have heard the question of what is really wrong fascism too often. To be clear, the fascism of Italy and Germany in the 20th Century, in its outward appearance is not repeated, but the realities they created are. In short, Capitalism’s wet dream: total servitude to the accumulation of wealth by a elite that utilizes hatred of anything other than what they deem manageable through every imaginable form of violence. Total oppression for wealth and to say that we aren’t ok with that is the understatement of all history. So that’s why we fight, in the very short. Digging in, we are going to be leaning into Shane Burley’s excellent book “Why we fight” as well as illustrating what fascism is exactly and why that is a reality necessary to fight at all times. We will not rest until every Fascist is dead and the very idea is relegated to the annals of history.
