Considering the amount of the Fuckening over the last few days we are starting today and this week with a new playlist. I am taking a wee break from these but will be back in the new year. Initially, I had planned to flood this one with uplifting cheese ball tunes from the 80s, the thought had occurred to me mid last week after being bored of being upset but that did not materialize to the extent that I had planned. Instead this weeks playlist is a 3hour whirlwind of tunes covering so many bases that it will keep you going for the next, challenging days. We got some classic 80s in here with Terence Trent D’Arby and INXS, some Pete Rock and Freddie Gibbs - switching into Gang of Four, Silver Mt. Zion and the Black Angels but also some rare cuts from around the world that will put a smile on your pretty faces.
The two pieces of news that dominated my little bubble since Friday are the steady collapse of England and the US’ governments seemingly self-destructive wish to have its citizens show up with pitchforks on the steps of their capitol. Regarding Britain, brexit and now a total lockdown, the news is still rolling as I am writing this and I am sure I will be returning to this topic on Wednesday. Rest assured, a constant recurring thought I have after every bit of WTF news is: well, this could have been avoided. At this point, the UK is essentially shut off from the rest of the world, travel bans, lock downs, no trading of goods and so on, which is what the hard Brexit that is heading our way will look like in reality. All the while the rich and powerful are flying out on private jets and the rest of us having to face that reality.
All the while all of the above is happening the buffoons in Westminster managed the below instead of actually doing their jobs.
Chen Weihua is the Chief Washington Correspondent of China Daily and Deputy Editor of China Daily USA in case anyone was wondering.
Not wanting to leave you with a bitter taste in your mouth, two things: Wednesday will see that of these newsletters for the year unless I get utterly shit faced between then and the new year and feel the need to communicate, but more about that on Wednesday. Secondly, a wonderful, hopeful, funny tune ( thanks queso ) brought to you by Burning Hell who served as inspiration for the last print I made. Enjoy!
