The story behind this graphic is two-fold. On the European side of the story, it goes back to one of the first cases of adbusting in 1970. In the late 60s German Rail had made a poster with that same claim, advertising a new train that would plow through snow. A few years later, the German Socialist Student Union had the infamous poster of Marx, Engels and Lenin with the same slogan. Two years ago I dropped a collab with Working Class History using the same slogan just depicting noteworthy female comrades.
On the US side of the story, it refers to The Weather Underground Organization (WUO), commonly known as the Weather Underground. It was a radical left militant organization active in the late 1960s and 1970s, founded on the Ann Arbor campus of the University of Michigan.
As always, I am extremely grateful to anyone supporting this one man show. If you have any questions just drop me a line. Seeing that there won’t be any rage tweets happening today, be assured that I will be sending out a weekend edition on Sunday.
