End Game
Morning Comrades! Back into another week of this and once we get past the pleasantry of this weeks playlist there is a fuck tonne to speak about. For whatever reason my brain was working over-time this weekend and I started three different essays for this platform already, let’s see which one I can manage to make sense of as it feels like we are heading into the eye of the biggest storm seen so far. I know, it sounds odd or even alarmist, with Covid-19 being tackled, badly, but tackled in most of the readers countries here, but that pandemic is just getting started as far as I can tell, add the not really looming anymore but in your face civilizational threat of global warming, democracy finally getting rid of its god-complex mask and allowing full blown corporate-fascism to be “cool” to “vote” for - you get where I am going. Anyhow, I will spending some time on these topics and a bigger one that’s been brewing but yadayada- more on that before I take off on Thursday for a change of scenery - your regular program will not be affected. I think.
In any case, this weeks playlist had to be a little shorter than last weeks only because it was so damn good I ended up listening to that more than anything else. Nevertheless, here we are. It’s another hot summer deep cut lazy fuck on the balcony type of mix. Enjoy it at your own peril.
The biggest news that didn’t make any of the fucking news over the last 6 months is that the European Environment Agency - essentially the EU’s governing Environmental Department that carries serious clout / money here- officially called Capitalism the biggest threat to human prosperity and in detail:
The European Environment Agency has acknowledged that green growth is "unlikely" and calls for post-growth and degrowth alternatives to be integrated into EU policy…Economic growth is closely linked to increases in resource use and has detrimental effects on the natural environment and human health. It is unlikely that a long-lasting, absolute decoupling of economic growth from environmental pressures and impacts can be achieved.
It’s one thing for commentators / academics / activists like ourselves to address the obvious elephant in the room, but if a government agency in charge of the environment of 27 nation states puts it this plainly, well, either what we are doing is working or the situation is a lot worse than most of us know. I have linked the report, it’s a 15min read, below for anyone that is interested and no I am not going to waste a line on why this hasn’t been in the news. I’ll leave you with this quote from the report, which makes it extremely clear:
An absolute reduction of environmental pressures and impacts would require fundamental transformations to a different type of economy and society — instead of incremental efficiency gains within established production and consumption systems.
A few might remember that after the January 6th Riots in DC a few of us called the idea that Mr. Super Cop / Crime Bill / Imperialist Racist Fuccboi, President Biden and his Super Cop VP would use that smoking gun incident to not deal with the real issues that led to that riot ( hahaha ) but would do what every capitalist puppet does when threatened: tighten the screws. Well, here we are, and I’ll save you reading through the re-write of the Patriot Act that not directly targets anything left of whatever far right bullshit the ruling party in the US calls “democracy”:
“including opposition to perceived economic, social, or racial hierarchies”
So when is the US government going to bomb someone because, “freedom”? Just asking for some lefty friends that really should start building bunkers.
With that, we return to your early morning dish of hate and spite for the powerful and their fuckening that threatens our peaceful co-existence to build a better tomorrow.
