Debt, Corruption and Power
Plenty to talk about again today comrades so strap in. Over the last week a lot of energy has been spent, online at the very least, on re-starting the discussion of erasing the criminal concept and harsh reality of college debt in the US, a concept a lot of us in Europe are struggling with but fully realize how immoral and predatory it is. Rather than joining that discussion I wanted to share a clip from David Graeber. Previously having taught at my old and current University, Goldsmiths College in London he sadly passed away earlier this year at the peak of his intellectual contribution. In the below clip he goes through the concept of debt to illustrate what it actually means which is mandatory to understand to contribute to the discussion without being just another mouth piece for yet another unsuccessful online campaign.
Please do watch this and pass it on to everyone.
Secondly, and as I have been hinting at this week, here is a thread very much worth your time that illustrates the brazen corruption at the heart of the British government. This is hugely important to read and spread far and wide.
Thirdly, earlier this week I published a larger essay on the far-right new social media platform called Parler for the paying subscribers of this newsletter. Seeing that this cesspool of hate is gathering momentum, both in prominent right wing radicals and general membership I have now made the essay public for you all to read.
Now for the daily rage that comes across my screens that is worth sharing. This below is a very hot and important take on all this vaccine talk. Whilst I am as excited as the next person about the potential, let’s keep in mind that any talk thereof, currently only serves the stock market, something none of us have a stake in, and the politicians weaponizing hope for votes.
The other bit of news that blew my fucking brains out yesterday was a statement by none other than the wicked witch of the west, aka Hillary Clinton, via a tweet. Even as a 42 year old, white male and father, that was socialized in a very traditional English working class, military family - something that genuinely needs deconstructing and de-romanticizing, this statement is so utterly wrong on every level that I am struggling for words here.
I am going to leave you with one of my favorite songs from to calm those nerves.
