I have just sent off a piece on revolutions to the paying supporters of this newsletter asking myself some uncomfortable questions mostly but also trying to assess where we are and what we need / should be doing. Here is a little taste of it:
What I am going to ask though: What in the fuck are we going to do, now? Are these two approaches viable today? Are our societies worth fighting for even? Do we accept our historical destructive nature of the past 500 years and maybe start looking at what other realities of co-existence had existed before we threw our fucked up, binary, christian, racist, sexist system of exploitation over the world? Is it even our place still to want to change the world for better without accepting the above? I don’t have all the answers, far from it but my view of my own impassive non-violent ways have been thoroughly rattled these past few years, again, a logical progression especially considering the past 20 years.

How To Be An Anti-Capitalist in a Capitalist World
No I haven’t forgotten about this little subsection and we will continue our wonderful journey today with another extremely important and brilliantly articulated talk by the late Erik Olin Wright on Class.
It appears that the big story coming out of the US over the last 48hours is another example of how pitiful the US infrastructure is, or rather, how criminally underfunded and underinvested it is - especially when it comes to dealing with more extreme weather patterns - not that those are, according to most scientists, going to increase in occurrence and strength, and please note that sarcasm. The reactions from across the board about the simple fact that people are freezing, hurting because their government is corrupt is fucking bewildering to watch and whilst for the 1%’ers and doing well to shift rightful blame from them to anyone but them is fascinating to see in the abstract, it’s brutally infuriating.
Whilst that is happening, some other hot shots from the past 48 hours that have crossed my screens.
Texas is a mess and the whole power outage situation is fucked up... however it’s not only the low income areas without power. It’s literally everywhere and of course esp in the higher populated areas like south and downtown. It’s fucked up all around... 😔😔😔
