The collaboration with Villy Villian is now available through to Friday. Villy is an incredible illustrator from Argentina that I can only recommend you follow & support her as much as you do me. As always, thank you for your support!
Yes, we are going to talk about this one. I know we touched on this Monday, but with this bill passing the British Parliament yesterday we need to have a few words. I have linked, unhappily, the original UK Gov. text into the above tweet for anyone willing to go through the text. Long story short, the Tory Party have now enabled one of the most draconian, anti-democratic laws in UK history, it’s certainly singular in post-war Europe in regards to the extent of its reach. Whilst Britain, and specifically England, has always been a rather un-democratic, repressive, authoritarian country with a incredible PR team to tell you otherwise, this is a full on masks-off moment that we need to see for what it is.
Now, there is a lot of talk about sliding into fascism etc and whilst I agree with the notion that any society can and has gradually moved into that idea of statehood and it rarely pops out of nowhere and goes “hello, I am fascism, we are in charge now and anyone who disagrees gets the wall” - granted, historically, that can and occasionally has happened, GENERALLY speaking, it is a slow and steady shift into this abhorrent form of rule and it is our job to oppose it at all and any time.
The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill is a major, major step into that direction. I have taken the liberty, while I may, to select the part of the bill that should seriously put your hairs on the back of your neck up:
I have highlighted the bits that give me a stomach ulcer whilst looking for my molotow cocktails. It’s incredibly vague on purpose, but imagine given the armed police the right to arrest you for whatever they deem a “serious annoyance” and put you away for up to 10 years. Holy Fucking Fascist Burning Shit Hole of a Fucking Country. The entire point of having an elected, representative government is that we, as the citizens have the right to voice and express our discontent with those whom we give power to rule in our interest. This makes the options we have left a criminal offense. This is what we called Fascism. As a reminder, fascism is defined as:
a political philosophy, movement, or regime that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.
Or, might is right. That’s where we are in the UK at this point. The only questions now remaining are: what side are you on and what are you going to do about it?
I will leave you with some talking points, especially in regards to a few localized examples of what is happening, for example, with the police protecting statues of the ultimate bastard that was Winston Churchill as well as some more general takes, but, friends and comrades back home, it’s time. Time to get together and end this nonsense immediately. I am more than willing to do what I can from here, so let me know.
