Before I get into the actual day to day posts over here, first of all, welcome! I am extremely happy that so many of you have already come this way and I wanted to express my happiness about that.
For this first month I am not going to differentiate between the free and paid for subscriptions with this newsletter and thank you to those that have already signed up for the paid subscriptions. I’ll make this up to you in one way or another.
This first month will be a mix of what I am planning on with this platform, and with that, here we go.
I am dropping a new t-shirt this coming weekend! Not only have I lost both of these to my pile of gym clothes but they both need a come back. Yes, they will be on white but you get to chose which one you want to see. Just drop a comment in the comment button and you are good to go.
Now to our usual enraging talking points from around the world - I am obviously not going to publish as many as I would have done back on my IG stories - that was all way too overwhelming. I will concentrate on those that stuck out most during my day. The free newsletter will always contain these, albeit not with commentary as below. That is going to be strictly for the paid for newsletter.
I would be genuinely surprised if this little bit of HUGE news actually makes any of the mainstream news we read or watch but here it is. To those unaware of this study, the country of Finland gave 2000 citizens a UBI of 560€ a month, which granted isn’t a lot, for two years in 2017 and 2018 and the results of that said are summarized in the above tweet. Personally, I am all for UBI with reservations in regards to capitalism being used in our present system of social democracy. That, however, is a different discussion and distracts from the point being made here. Here is the link to the full article.
So is poverty, hunger, not being able to see a doctor and so on. We in the global north- west generate- and let’s call it, steal wealth from the global south - again, this needs a deeper discussion - enough wealth through our labour to remedy these crimes. Simply said, our elected representatives are paid off by those stealing to not allow this.
It isn’t and do not for one second allow the powerful to make you feel marginalized or threatened by believing a revolution is an answer to their corruption. You are not alone.
This ties in to a piece of writing / art - it’s not art, it’s just ideas put into words, but you know what I mean, I made a few years that said, that irrespective you not being interested in politics still means that politics is interested in you. Interested in the sense that in our current system, your vote and paid taxes legitimizes their corruption.
This made me chuckle - I took the original drawing from an old - as in late 1960s pulp magazine that focused on homosexual interests lets just say and just had to flip this.
The weekly playlists will continue, I just won’t post them on IG anymore. They may or may not been as regular but regardless, here is a new one. There is a lot of new songs on there that only have really come to my attention this past week. As per last year, these playlists are made up predominately from songs that crept up on me during the week prior. There isn’t a purpose of curation in them, it’s just songs that I have enjoyed from all the different angles of art that pleases me.
